The Perfect Fruit

My nominee for best fruit ever:

Bananas

To wit:

  • Straight up delicious

  • Portable

  • Easy to peel

  • No annoying seeds

  • Versatile: whole, sliced, mashed, puréed, raw, baked, broiled, flambéed

  • Inedible parts have enormous comedic potential

I used to throw out bananas when they got to that "too  brown" stage.  What an idiot I was!  That's honestly when they are just starting to get really good for recipes.  Let them get totally black and then put them in the freezer for when you need them.  Brilliance!  Thaw them out and they are pre-mashed with the perfect consistency for baking.

Consumer Tip: The first in a series of perhaps one

If you enjoy a good bowl of popcorn with your movie but not the chemical brew inside those opaque microwave bags--not to mention the bag itself--you owe it to yourself to get one of these:

Add the oil of YOUR choice (think Canola, not the Redenbacher Labs stuff), dump in some popcorn and start the microwave.  Salt to YOUR taste (not the Pop Secret focus group's) and enjoy hot, delicious popcorn without the heart clogging side effects.  Easy cleanup: two pieces, both dishwasher safe.  Use it over and over... hell, put it in your will for the grandkids.

Free corollary tip: save money and generate good karma, buy kernels in bulk or from a family farm.

Peace.

In Martin's memory: grant him his simple, eloquent request.
Do what you can... starting now.
